Negotiation Strategies

The ability to negotiate successfully, to reach agreements wiv other parties, is a key skill in any business. This negotiation almost always involves an element of compromise. But. when entering a negotiation, u shud always keep in mind dat it's almost impossible to negotiate and make agreements successfully if u think u can't afford to "lose" or walk away from wat is on offer. This will result in your avoiding asking for anything more than wat u think the other side will give wihtout a dispute. You become a passive observer, with the other side dictating the terms.

In most negotiation one side has more to offer than the other & proper planning help minimise the effects of this imbalance. Decide on set limits for wat u can offer b4 negotiation begins. Der are always advantages you can offer the other side, and you clearly have benefits they want or need or they would not be negotiating with you. In fact the buyer or seller often wans u more than u think, so it's your advantage to try n see things from their point of view. The better u know thier real needs or wants - not just wat they have told u - the more successful you will be, and the less likely you are to fall into the trap of giving them more than you really need to.

But it's also true dat a concession they really need or will value from u wont cost u as much as it benefits them, yet may still leave you wif avthg u wan. If u know the other side must reach an agreement on a deal by certan date financial reasons, your willingness to comply wif dat date cud be worth a great deal of money to them, wihtout costing u much, if anything at all. It's up to u to find out wat the other side really needs.

Untrained negotiators often allow their feelings to bcum too involved and they may take each rejection of a proposal as personal rejection. So they bcum angry wif the other person, or blame for failing to reach an agreement. While it's important to be yourself and, on occasion, not to be afraid to express how you honestly feel, it's important to judge carefully when to do this. It's particularly important to maintain a polite and friendly personal relationship when you are facing a difficult negotiation, but keeping negative personal feelings out of negotiation didnt mean hiding your personality.

Think carefully abt your negotiation schedule. Take breaks, particularly during times when you cant agree over a particular point. But if u hav to cont. the negotiation on another day, make it soon, and keep the momentum of the negotiation. As long as u are still talking and meeting, you build rapport wif the other party; learn more abt wat they need and ensure dat your company is the one most likely to make the deal. This may requires both patience and persercerance - but patience pays!

To "win" a negotiation then, means that neither side should feel that they hav "lost". You shud noe wat u can offer the other side and noe exactly wat they wan. If u hav done avthg u can n the deal reamins outside the limits, you hav defined 4 youself beforehand, then walk away from it. Either way, ya still a winner.

You ppl are adult, these simple theories that an underage girl can understand still need a squid to teach you how to go abt it? Reflect yourself infront of the mirror. =)
